What is SAT?

The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is a standardized test that is used for college admissions in the United States. The SAT is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test that is administered by the College Board. The SAT is scored on a scale of 400 to 1600. The average SAT score is 1050.

section of the SAT tests your ability to read and understand passages of text. It contains 52 questions that are based on passages of about 500 to 750 words in length. The passages come from a variety of sources, such as novels, short stories, essays, and news articles.

Writing and Language

section of the SAT tests your ability to write and edit clear and effective prose. It contains 44 questions that assess your grammar, punctuation, usage, and writing skills. The questions in this section are divided into two categories:

  • Sentence Completion: In this type of question, you will be given a sentence with a blank space. You will then need to choose the word or phrase that best completes the sentence.
  • Essay: In this type of question, you will be given a prompt and asked to write an essay. The prompt will typically ask you to discuss an issue or to analyze a text.

Math

This section of the SAT tests your ability to solve math problems. It contains 38 questions that cover a variety of topics, including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis. The questions in this section are divided into two categories:

  • Problem Solving: In this type of question, you will be given a problem and asked to solve it.
  • Multiple Choice, Multiple Answer, Re-order Paragraphs
  • Data Interpretation: In this type of question, you will be given a table, chart, or graph and asked to answer questions about it.
